If you’ve read through my blog, you’d realize that I’m very into doing my own home improvements. One of the projects that I need to address is my kitchen countertops. Originally, I tiled them with 4 inch ceramic tiles. I placed white and grey tiles in a random design and used a light grey grout. It looked very impressive when complete. Now, 5 years later, I’m at wits end with the grout. I have completely redone the grout one time and have actually painted it two additional times. Besides the fact that it cracks, it looks dirty. I am at the point where I am searching for another solution. I have been considering granite countertops, but am really hesitant to spend that kind of money. Musical Inclinations

My husband often expresses and interest in learning to play the guitar. His major downfall is that every time he picks it up to play, he thinks that magically he should be able to play music like “Freebird” or “Stairway to Heaven,” just by sound. He thinks that we all are musically inclined and that it should be natural to pick up an instrument and play a tune. Finding out the hard way, that this is not true, he loses his enthusiasm. What is a Capo?

I just learned something new, while buzzing around the web. I came across something called a capo. Of course, a new word prompted me to do some research. Short for capotasto, a capo is typically used on a fretted sting instrument to shorten the playable length of the strings. Learning Chords

For years, my husband has been saying that he wants to learn to play the guitar.  For some unknown reason, he thinks that anyone should be able to pick up and instrument and by sound, be able to play.  We have an acoustic guitar in the house with a book of chords for his reference.  Using a guitar chords chart is probably the best way to learn.  Following the fingering and practicing the chords will enable you to play almost any song.  I actually play the piano and rather than learning the exact fingering for the left hand, I play the chords.  Of course, it does take a fair amount of memorization to learn the chords.  Playing an instrument, however, I find to be a wonderful way to relax.

Disasters

I’ve just been thinking about the rise of natural disasters over the years. It seems to me that there could be a lot more preventative measures taken by cities, states and government.
