A prominent businessman, patriot and entrepreneur, Richard Willich is widely known for his generous support to assist charities that focus on the health and welfare of children. In the steel mill section of south Chicago where he grew up, he excelled as an outstanding athlete in high school and college. His service for our country was highly commendable, serving as a Platoon Leader in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart and several Medals of Valor.

After earning a Master’s Degree in Finance, Richard Willich attended law school and then went on to found Dow Industries in 1982 which was a design build engineering company of medical facilities. He sold the company in 1986.

In 1992 and based on Richard Willich’s belief that unnecessary health insurance costs could be reduced by up-to-date information, he founded Medical Development International (MDI.) This $200 million holding company based in Northeast Florida has two subsidiaries. They are MDI Healthcare Solutions and MDI Government Health-care Services. Outstanding customer service, as well as medical expertise in unison with developed technology enables these risk management companies to lessen the costs of health-care to their customers.

Most recently, Richard Willich and MDI Holdings, donated $75,000 to renovate Kids Bridge which was opened in 2002 by the Junior Service League of St. Augustine. Kids Bridge, Inc. provides a supervised visitation home-like setting for the benefit of family relationships during separation issues due to divorce, domestic violence and other family problems and difficulties.

A spirited leader who truly believes in the “American Dream,” Richard Willich continues to give back to the community and has made many generous charitable donations to educational, historical and military organizations.
