Administrative Assistant Job or construction? This latest saga has me a bit peeved and I would love opinions on this. My lunatic boss ran over her mail box a month and a half ago. This was not an easy task as it was made of concrete, stucco and wood. This is actually not her first mishap as just a few months ago she backed into the landscapers’ truck. Of course, that wasn't the first event either.
In the meantime, to get back to my point, I got into work and there was a voice message waiting for me. It stated that she was afraid that someone was going to impale themselves upon her broken mailbox which now had a sharp point protruding from the ground. Mind you this has all of a sudden become and urgency after a month and a half. The message continued that I should go into her garage, grab a hammer and go out to the mailbox and smash it up so that no one would get hurt. Now I ask you, does that sound like a job requirement for and administrative assistant? What would you have done?

Sounds like you should start your own business. You have the know how and the relation with the clients. As for standing up for your self, you should. If you get fired would unemployment be that much less? As for Mike's deduction, doesn't the company have insurance that would cover that? He should at least ask, you don't get anything without asking. His clients ask for him by name, no company wants to lose an employee like that.
Just my opinion.
